Scope

Architect is a profession who visualizes the structure of the building or any other project before it is actually developed.  He has a keen sense of precision and clarity of all the minute details required in the making of the structure. They are the real creators of skyscrapers and other amazing structures.

Architects design structures and give physical face-lift as well as provide functional utility, safety and economy. The job of an architect is not limited to designing corporate offices, rather they design houses, apartments and colonies, industrial complexes, hospitals, hotels, airport terminals, stadium, shopping and commercial complexes, schools etc. Architects focus on how to make living easy and comfortable for people ranging from lower-middle class to upper-class and offer them housing and shelter with luxury and style.

Architects can work with government organization, construction companies wherein they are asked to serve as a designer. Initially an architect is expected to understand specific requirements of clients and strike a right balance between aesthetics and practicality. Additionally, an architect with skills can help clients by his ideas in terms of balancing the requirements of appearance, financial budget and time frame. Some architects even work independently and earn their livelihood through consultancy fees which entirely depends upon the skills and profile as well as work experience.

Duration/Eligibility

School of architecture offers undergraduate course in B.Arch. which lasts for 5 years. The selection is done through an entrance exam conducted by the Council of Architecture throughout India.

  • Candidates should have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks with Mathematics and English as subjects of study.
  • Students appearing for 10+2 examination in March /April 2015 are eligible to apply.

Admission Process

Candidates should have passed National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).

National Aptitude Test in Architecture Necessary for Admission

NATA is offered year round at designated test centers located at colleges / school of architecture in India. SOA, IPS Academy is one of the test centers.

NATA is offered as a paper based + computer based test.

Documents required for registration for NATA – Std. X or equivalent exam marks list – Attested copy, one recent passport size colour photograph, any valid document of identification and test fees as prescribed by the test center.

NATA fee is Rs. 1000/- and is to be paid at the time of registration and before collection of the appointment voucher from the test center.

NATA can be given as many number of times as desired by the candidate. For every attempt however, test fees has to be paid afresh in full. The mark list will show the average of marks scored by the candidate in his last attempt and his previous valid score.
