Chemical Engineers concern themselves with raw materials and
transforming them in useful functional products. Chemical
Engineers concerns with the chemistry involved in these
transformations, but more closely, they deal with various
aspects like the design problem, testing and scale-up
operations, momentum transfer, mass & heat transfer, energy
transfer and many other Unit Operations & Processes. In essence,
they handle the task of taking the transformation process on a
broader scale for bulk production. Chemical Engineers are
usually appointed as Process Engineers. They are hired by
Process Industries or can build their career in research and
development by allying with Research Laboratories. Chemical
Engineers are also signed up in related fields like
Biotechnology, environmental engineering, pharmaceuticals, food
& drink, energy engineering, engineering software development or
can take up consultancy.
The breadth of scientific and technical knowledge inherent in
the profession makes them most Versatile Engineer.
